Well someone posted me alink on Twitter the other day, and it showed a lovely 3D animation of two robots, talking in wierd computer generated voices. Ral funny. The tears kept topping up my coffee, such was the laughter!!

So I went to this site ans created an account and now I've created 3 video's for you to see/

Go to YouTube and search for either "BTCARE", "The Real World John & Cathy" or "Ashley & Angelica".

.BcCare is an amusing annecdote on dijointed conversations
.The Real World is set in an office, with the two staff swearing about blimmin PC's
.Ashley & Angelica meanwhile, are having an MC 'Battle', where each one takes it in turns to try and impress the other. See who wins?

WARNING: "The Real World John & Cathy" is VERY VERY SWEARY!

Anyroad up, each one lasts about two minutes, but they take around six hours to get right, which is why you can tell I only spent about 5 hours and 40 minutes on each (approxiamtely).

Quite pleased with it but I had to reduce the image over 400 times to get from 5MB quality to a game type image.

My girlfriend just bought me a box of plasticine type stuff!

Since I'm not a good drawer i thought it might be good to start using this alternative method.

I just knocked up a piece that looks like a wonky spaceship.

Have to film it and see how it looks.

Well I found a bit of code that searches the computer for files - now adapting it to write out the file list - will have to put some sort of compression in it cos the file it just created is several MB in size, which is to be expected.

Well its that time again.

Good morning chaotic blog fans!

Well I spent a lot of time getting more source codes and researching different types of image and manipulation.
Had to remove the drive searcher code as it fails at some point, but replacing it won't be a problem.

Managed to reduce the size of the files be removing tons of bloated images and samples into a seperate directory (for later on). Down to just under 4.5meg.

Just another page of doctor stylee spider scrawl to decode into code, then Inspirator has about 10 commands you'll be able to enter to get your own personal random chaos.

Finally getting to the stage where I've got all the ideas I need. I always says I'll not have to make any more notes, but I've about 40 pages of half legible scrawl (I write it and it gets coded then I look back at the notes and tick them off (naughty notes!) to get rhough, and the 2d0.txt files (always have a 2do files, or files) I have left to, erm, do.

Another file contains internet research and links.
Another directory contains all the images & samples I'd like to go into the finished Games Rascle.

Well there is no way I can get Inspirator down to 100mb, which is what 4shared wants it to be max.

So I'll have to wait until I've got the domain name and some space, then upload some web pages I now have to design to put my games on.

More work. Worth it in the end.

Well maybe its occured to people, but I'm a retro gamer - nothing like an old game with decent gameplay.

I'd be interested, as previously mentioned, what games people like and why, and what they'd do to change them if they could.

When I produce Games Rascle that is exactly what you'll be able to do!

Well I coded a routine to save pics every few seconds from my prog to importy into a .gif, tho i havent put the code in the convert the images to a gif or avi yet. Work work work.

However, i got it to start speaking in my own voice, after recording bits of english speach and stringing them together. Of course it'll sound like a robot - I'm not a speach therepist! It'll do to indicate stuff going on in Chaos!

Still have to get that first coffee though!

So I thought of the title for the first program I'll be releasing, which included several components of Games Rascle.

The Inspirator is born!

Basically there will be only a few accompanying images and sound effects with it, the rest come from your own personal collection.

Inspire yourself from what you have collected on your computer!

Ok so here is my first game - no graphics or sound, but a nice little puzzler.

Based on Sum Up! but then changed the dynamics. This had
sound and graphics but it didn't use BitBlit.

Then I took it apart and that became the Games Rascle.

Things i got to do before I can release a full version are a list as long as your arm.
This is why I've decided to release a cut down version (from the full version that hasn't been finished - keep up!) which just demonstrates image movement, collision and sounds.

Since the file sizes are getting large now, due to accumulation of sounds and images, I can't post it on a web site for download, I gotta get a Domain and some web space.

This is in the pipeline. Waiting for the call from BT - i keep letting my mobile phone die, and it doesn't meow loud enough anyway!

Games Rascle continued - Inspiration

Well I've done a coupla hours coding, and am thinking of releasing a demo version of the creator in the form of something that throws random images to the screen - an inspiration giver if you will.

I just coded the routine for scanning and loading random files, and mixing them together on screen reminds you of the files you havent seen in ages, and the random mix gives you inspiration in a dull moment.

Now more than ever before does coffee mix better with the midnite oil better!

The Games Rascle is a games creator.
DON'T RUN OFF JUST YET!

It's easy to use, intuitive and helpful.
I'VE HEARD IT ALL BEFORE

It has a unique system for games creation, as well as standard menu's and Point & Click
GO ON...

Games can be created by random, or using templates, several of which come with the program.
YOU'RE LOSING ME..?

You can create a basic game in less than half an hour.

There is no programming, you just tell it what you want and it will do it.
ISN'T THIS A SLIGHT EXAGGURATION? SO THAT'S NO PROGRAMMING, BUT SOME PROGRAMMING THEN?

Not really, no. You need to see it to believe it.

Time to stop blogging, and time to start coding - doing a remake of Space Panic and Space Invaders - of course I won't be using copyrighted images.

So much to do. I want it finished now. Then I'll only think of another project. Meantime I'm excited about all the prospects this lil program could afford me.

Things to do:
1. Need more images to put through the system
2. Have still to code the Path and Movement Editor, though sprites can move in straight lines which enough for a lot of early retro games recreation, but not for Galaga and Phoenix.
Need to think of inventive path movements
3. Joystick code won't work while sound code is active - mismatch with DX7 library variables

I welcome comments and suggestions. Let me know via Twitter if you will?

This is The OMB - My music creator program i spent eight solid weeks on, before i got annoyed with it and moved onto Games Rascle, taking the sound code out of it and using it in Rascle, and other bits i'd made feel pretty.

Its written in the style of a tracker (download MPT Tracker/ModPlugTracker if you want to write music quickly - it's free)

Screenshots can be taken out of your cration to upload to websites and stuff. This picture was created in seconds by pressing Ctrl I, which randomly places your images, and moves them round randomly, and they collide randomly too.

More coffee needed tho!

I've always had an interest in games. I'm really a retro surviver of 80's arcade.

When I say the creator is just three weeks old, it makes it sound like a would-be project.

Fact is I've been writing little games and routines in Visual Basic for several years, and am now at the point where they're all being used in the one program. It started out as a puzzle game called Number Funch, which I now have to rewite, as I took it apart to make the Games Rascle.

I've got a working version, with lots of stuff to sort out before I can let V1.0 out of the bag, but basically (at the moment), I've got 300 odd sprites (images) and 76 sound samples loaded up, and I can blit them all at random to the screen in a second. Chaos I call it!

I've coded all the routines for sprite movement, and what they do when they collide.

Also have a player sprite moving round, where any directiom can be set for it, and am working towards marrying the editors I've made, to the functions I've coded.

Love seeing all the graphics flying around - dislike staring at the numbers that make it so!

If anyone has any ideas, thoughts or suggestions to help me along, I wouldn't mind?

I'm in the process of creating a games creator that allows you to create games quickly and easily, and quite in a way that I've yet to see in any other games creator. Written in Visual Basic, the coding has taken three weeks so far, and includes a vast array of routines for manipulating images and playing sounds.
